Ogbenevwoke graduated in Nigeria as an economist and is a trained statistician. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management. In 2007 he was selected as one of only 101 Young African Leaders to the African Business Leaders Forum. A member of RISE NETWORKS, Business Minds and Small Business Owners in Nigeria.

Networking is the only game in town

As the year is nearing the good old days of revision Networking 612 will let you catch your breath… but not without a bang. During an evening of awards, small talk and goodbye’s from Kent Round One together with Kent Business School reunited to acknowledge all the hard work and interest from the participants.

The event culminated with an award handing ceremony for the Business Idea competition finalists.

There were 29 great ideas which three independent judges scored on viability, innovation and creativity. It was a challenge to shortlist the top eight that had to come back and presented their business ideas to another round of judges at the Bulb with the chance to be awarded at Network612 from £5000 prize pot.
Despite some tough competition from finalists, we are pleased to announce that the Winner of UoK Business Ideas Competition 2010 is Sinan Assaf. The MSc Business Management student due to confidentiality would not disclose the concept of the idea at such early stage. However the idea is “a web based business, with B2B application that is not targeted at the student market”. With this riddle the young entrepreneur leaves everyone intrigued.

Over the past few years at university Sinan kept himself busy being constantly involved in activities and competitions that would boost his business experience and increase his chances to succeed. In 2009 Sinan, signed up for the £10 Challenge and organised a team to help him with his mini enterprise called ‘Cheaper Computer Care’ and offered his services as a computing technician that lead him to triumph and £370 of profit.

Recently Sinan was also part of UoK student team and was named University Million Maker champion following The Prince’s Trust annual award ceremony for raising £3,182 by organising a range of fundraising events in order to support The Princess Trust.

With such inspiring record of achievements we wish Sinan, never to lose confidence in the strength of the business idea he has developed and have a successful start-up that will open new horizons for the UoK postgraduate.

However the statistics show the majority of candidates for UoK Business Ideas Competition were men. So the question of the week is: Are Women Less Interested in Entrepreneurship Than Men? Please leave your comments below.

Entrepreneurial inspiration tonight at Network612

Everyone is warmly invited to tonights Network 612 event to be held in Symposium room at the University of Kent Business School. The evening will start at 5:30 and there will be plenty of refreshments available.

Tonight we will be hearing from Ronald Thompson who will be speaking about his business www.piliusxdesign.com designing innovative furnature and Jo Gideon of www.chiefexecutive.com.

The event promises to be an inspirational evening for all and there will be a chance for students to put their questions to both entrepreneurs in a networking session after the talk.

Network612 with Sir Robert Worcester and Colin Carter

Thursday 3rd December saw the third Network612 event, held at Woolf College. Enterprise students, businesses and business support agencies were invited to attend a networking session, with refreshments, and to come and listen to Professor Sir Robert Worcester, Chancellor and founder of the MORI organisation, who gave a fascinating talk on branding, targeting and reaching customers.

Colin Carter, a global entrepreneur and artist, gave a fascinating insight into the life of an entrepreneur and how he developed many businesses in the shipping world. Colin has now used his artistic skills to grow his art into another global business, with his work sought after in more than 35 countries. His unique oil paintings fill the canvas with images of drivers at the wheel.

An inspiring and fascinating evening was had by all, and all are welcome to the next Network612 in the New Year on Thursday February 4th
