Work / Study Abroad

Taking the opportunity to study or work abroad as part of your degree is a great way to make an impact on your CV. Here are Kent we support a great range of opportunities with a two fantastic support departments the European Office and the International Office who can help show what is available to you.

The year abroad is about making new friends, experiencing work / study abroad, improving your language skills, travelling and really getting to know another country. The sense of achievement and personal development that often springs from this experience cannot be underestimated. The year abroad also provides many advantages in terms of career opportunities and is highly regarded by employers.

  • Experience another way of life – discover people, culture and traditions.
  • Develop new study and life skills.
  • Deepen knowledge of your chosen subject at a new university.
  • Improve existing language skills or develop new ones.
  • Improved employment prospects whether or not you choose to pursue a career in another European country. Employers recognise such an experience as giving ‘added value’ to your CV.

Opportunities for Kent students to study in continental Europe are not confined to those who are studying or who speak a foreign language as many of our European partner universities teach in English.

Most students tell us that this has been their best year at University!

In addition to study opportunities in Europe, many Kent students spend part of their degree in a professional placement in another European country facilitated through our various departmental links with enterprise.
