Social Enterprise training experience
In partnership with the Kent Enterprise Hub, People United is offering all students and graduates of the University of Kent an exciting opportunity to learn about local not-for-profit organisations through a series of workshops and visits. To get the full benefit it would be useful to attend the whole programme although this is not essential. This programme will consist of:
Thursday 10 March (The Bulb, Canterbury Innovation Centre) 5.30pm – 7pm
People United will talk about their work as a small arts charity from different perspectives (setting up a social enterprise, project managing and operations). As well as an activity to get you thinking about planning a project, there will a Q&A session with People United.
Thursday 24 March Skillnet – 11am
Wed 30 March Thanington Neighbourhood Resource Centre (TRC) – 11am
An opportunity to visit and learn about two organisations in Canterbury who are trying to make a real difference in their community: The Skillnet Group and the TRC . The Skillnet Group is a Community-Interest company working with people with learning difficulties. The TRC provides support and services to people living in Thanington and the surrounding area. Meet the staff and clients of both organisations and see the brilliant work they’re doing.
Thursday 6 April (The Bulb, Canterbury Innovation Centre) – 5.30pm to 7pm
Ideas Lab: This workshop will provide you with an opportunity to discuss and explore your own ideas for social/creative initiatives. We will give you advice and information on how to get started and where to find help in taking your ideas forward.
Limited places available and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. To register your interest or for more information, please email info@peopleunited.org.uk or book online at
