UoK Business Ideas Competition

Friday evening – received all the scores from the judges and sent out the emails to all the entrants of this years competition. There were 29 great ideas which three indenpendant judges scored on viability, innovation and creativity. The top eight will now present thier business ideas to another round of judges at the Bulb on Wednesday, with the chance to win part of the £5000 prize pot. Winners will be announced that evening at the Network612. More details to follow!

New venue for the last Network612 this academic year, to include announcement and awards to the winners of this year’s UoK Business Ideas Competition. Come and network at the Bulb, 5.30, in the Canterbury Innovation Centre, and find out what student businesses won this years competition. Food and drink as usual, and some exciting news on grants for student and gradaute start-ups. Open to all UoK undergraduates and postgraduates. Just complete the application form (ideas can include a new idea, an actual business, a social enterprise, a technology based idea) and return to roundone@kent.ac.uk  by Midnight on the 21st for your chance to win part of the £5000 Prize pot!

With the risk of sounding a bit dramatic, it is almost a crime for a business student not to attend at least one business competition. The experiences gained there, the amazing networks acquired and the confidence gained from it will have a great impact on your personal development. You might not think it’s worth the time and effort to prepare for it and miss out on your coursework but it is something one needs to experience in order to judge.
